I say good, but I think it's not bad

The new Amazon Basics ball stood up to the Kirkland far better than expected on the course with a delightfully soft feel, but launch-monitor numbers were inconsistent and clearly behind both the Kirkland and Pro V1, making it a ball for the right golfer rather than a Kirkland killer.

+ the facts · 4 pros · 4 cons
  • +Phenomenal price, roughly a pound a ball when buying two dozen
  • +One of the softest-feeling balls he has tested, especially nice on the putter
  • +Held its own on real holes, winning the first hole as both players' better ball
  • Worst of the three in ball speed, spin, carry and total versus Kirkland and Pro V1
  • Very inconsistent driver numbers: some dipped out of the air, some spun way up
  • Low launch with less greenside spin, spin comes in delayed

For: Budget-focused golfers with lower swing speeds who value soft feel over consistency
