James Robinson Golf
Mid-handicap everyman reviews
“I love them. I think they're really, really good.”
After 12 months gaming a fitted 301 CB/MB combo with L.A. Golf shafts, James wouldn't change anything: the heads are exceptional, though the premium shaft upcharge is questionable in cold weather.
+ the facts · 5 pros · 4 cons− the facts
- +Ball striking and forged feel he rates up there with TaylorMade, Titleist and Mizuno
- +Totally predictable, consistent distances and spin after a year in the bag
- +Heads have worn well with an industrial look; even wear shows the fitted lie angle is right
- −L.A. Golf shafts feel stout and hard to load early in cold rounds
- −The shaft upcharge is expensive and erodes Takomo's value proposition
- −Nine-iron distance runs shorter than hollow-bodied alternatives, with natural long-iron drop-off
For: Better players who want a soft forged CB/MB set with known distances rather than max-distance hollow-body irons
